UPC, EAN/JAN, Bookland, and ISSN bar codes are found on retail items that get scanned at the cash register. Everyone doing package design needs to create these barcodes. UPC symbols are also found on shipping labels, forms, and catalogs. Book covers contain a Bookland bar code based on the ISBN number. Outside of the US and Canada, EAN and JAN bar codes are used.
