 Greenleaf CommX now supports Visual
Studio .NET 2003 (Version 7.1)
Powerful new version! ActiveX serial communications - Port, File
Transfer, and Terminal controls. Drop on Visual Basic, Visual C++,
Delphi, Visual FoxPro, C++ Builder, Power++ apps! Many new examples and
tutorials in 1.1!

CommX is an ActiveX control that simplifies three different aspects of working
with serial ports under Win32:
- Basic control and communications with RS-232 ports, including a
multithreaded event-driven I/O channel.
- Easy to use terminal emulation, with support for the standard
PC-ANSI interface.
- File transfers using standard serial protocols, with easy-to-use
setup and operations.
CommX architecture uses dual-mode ATL based
technologies that supports virtually any ActiveX enabled development platform for Win32.
CommX was written by experts in ActiveX technology. OCX, ActiveX, ATL, Dual-interface, Multithreaded, Event Driven, vtable, IDispatch
CommX is fully compatible with the latest
development methodologies! COM, MFC, ActiveX
CommX was developed in Visual C++ 6 on Windows 2000. It supports: Windows 95, 95
OSR2, 98, 98 SE, Me, NT 4, 2000 including Server, and Windows XP
Here's a partial list of development environments currently supported. (Users
have written applications with other compilers):
- Visual C++ 5, 6
- Visual Basic 5, 6
- Visual FoxPro 5, 6
- C++ Builder 3, 4, 5, 6
- Delphi 3, 4, 5
- PowerBuilder 6, 6,5
- Office 97, 2000, XP: Word, Excel, Access and others using VBA
Central Features/ Benefits
- Design time and run time property pages built in
- Properties persistence when needed
- Compatible with your development environment
including debugger
- Fail-safe port parameter restoration upon
application exit
- Individual events help keep your programming task
easy - you don't have to decode what the event was for
- Enable / disable each individual event type
- Many examples - for each supported container
- Tutorials and comprehensive Windows help
documentation speed you on your way
Port Control Overview
The Greenleaf CommX Port Control
provides the interface for robust access to all functionality of one or more serial ports.
Win32 serial communications drivers are used. The Port Control runs one or more threads
separate from your application. Property pages provide for design and run time settings of
such parameters as port, baud rate, parity, handshaking, etc.
A major advantage of using CommX
is that it is event driven. Your applications can respond to clearly defined events rather
than have to poll some port parameter. Incoming data, completion of an outgoing file,
reception of a particular terminal escape sequence -- these and many more events are
available when you use CommX.
Terminal Control Overview
The Greenleaf CommX Terminal Control
interface ItermCtl provides a configurable terminal emulation for your
application. By including this control, you will get the ability to format a window with
the characteristics of a popular terminal.
Keyboard and incoming character sequences can be
assigned to macros or commands. This very powerful capability offers you the power to
customize terminal emulation. You can establish incoming strings that will, when received,
trigger your event handlers. You can bind a key to a string to be transmitted. You can
associate subroutines or methods with keys - giving you the power!
File Transfer Control Overview
This control integrates with the Port Control and
(if desired) the Terminal Control to provide seamless data communications using standard
file transfer protocols. In this release of CommX, the protocols supported are ZModem and
ASCII file transfers.
ZModem includes all the popular options such as
sliding window, overwrite options, crash recovery and much more.
