Accusoft PDF Xpress version 7 is a powerful control that enables the user to build applications supporting PDF file creation, editing, and viewing using licensed Adobe technology. PDF Xpress is delivered as both a .NET Software Development Kit (SDK) and an ActiveX SDK. It is used to create PDF documents, modify and reorganize existing PDF documents, access metadata, view and create PDF/A documents, and more.

New Features in PDF Xpress Version 7

PDF Xpress Version 7 introduces the following new features:

• Added the ability to report the PDF page default user space resolution with the UserSpaceResolution property.
• Added support of security features in PDF documents.

Functionality

With PDF Xpress you can easily:

• Create new PDF documents.
• Create image-only PDF/A-compliant documents.
• Split, merge, insert, move and delete pages from existing PDF documents.
• Extract text and use PDF Xpress features to return location and context of text search results.
• Read, modify, and delete PDF document metadata, annotations, bookmarks, thumbnails, and watermarks.
• Rapidly display large PDF images such as engineering drawings.

• Programming environments: Win32 visual development environments through Visual Studio.
• Sample code is included for: VB.NET, C#, VB, VC++, Delphi.
• Deploys within .NET as a managed component and is also fully compliant with .NET.
• Supports user-specified debug logging levels.

PDF Reading Support

• Read all PDF documents, including any version PDF through v1.7.
• Load PDF documents from file or memory.
• Extract text and use PDF Xpress features to return location and context of text search results. (Extract text from Normal or Searchable Image PDFs then identify text matches using any desired technique. PDF Xpress will provide the context and location of the match phrase.)
• Export PDF annotations to XFDF (XML) - This enables PDF Xpress to work with NotateXpress to annotate PDF documents. See samples and demos included in the SDK.
• Access document metadata, bookmarks, and thumbnails.
• Render pages to Bitmap, DIB, EPS, or RAW.
• Specify render options, including portion of page to render, target resolution, and bit depth.
• Render large pages to higher resolution (e.g., for optimized display of large engineering drawings).
• Render copy-protected PDF documents where content copying and extraction is not allowed (commonly produced by legal and financial institutions).

• Create Searchable Image (Image with Hidden Text) PDF - using OCR Xpress with PDF Xpress sample code (PDF Xpress provides the ability to construct an image-over-text PDF, using text output from OCR Xpress, and the associated image compressed by ImagXpress. This enables the developer to create highly compressed image-over-text PDFs, with searchable text.).
• Add, modify, and delete PDF Bookmarks, linking to pages within the document that can be displayed as an outline in Acrobat Reader.
• Modify and write document metadata.
• Add, replace, or delete thumbnails associated with a page in a PDF document.
• Append, insert, move, or delete pages within a PDF document (e.g., to split one PDF file into multiple files, or merge two PDFs together).
• Import PDF annotations from XFDF (XML) into PDF document. This enables PDF Xpress to work with NotateXpress to annotate PDF documents.
• Save PDF documents to memory or file.
• Save Linearized PDF documents for rapid display.

PDF Xpress Editions

• Reader Edition

  The Reader Edition contains a subset of Professional Edition features. This edition allows application developers to:

  • Read PDF documents (including the associated annotations and bookmarks)
  • Render pages
  • Extract content from PDFs

• Professional Edition

  In addition to all of the Reader Edition features, this edition also provides application developers the ability to:

  • Create PDF documents
  • Modify the PDF content,
  • Create PDF/A-1b compliant PDF documents
