OCR-A & OCR-B
Creating OCR-A or OCR-B text is fast and painless when
you use Azalea’s OCR-A/OCR-B. Compatible with any Microsoft
Windows, Macintosh or Linux/UNIX application, the fonts in
Azalea OCR-A/OCR-B are rock-solid and oh so easy to use.
Create OCR-A or OCR-B text in any document, labeling,
database or design application you have on hand!
OCR
stands for Optical Character Recognition. Optical character
recognition is the mechanical or electronic translation of
images of handwritten, typewritten or printed text (usually
captured by a scanner) into machine-editable text. OCR-A or
OCR-B fonts are used wherever these error-free
machine-readable symbols are required.
First patented in Germany in 1929, OCR-A symbols have a
squared-off, "geometric" look. OCR-B was designed in 1968 as
the European counterpart to OCR-A. The United States Postal
Service has been using OCR machines to sort mail since 1965,
and many industry specifications call for an OCR-A or OCR-B
font.
2 of 5 non-interleaved barcodes for
Windows
2
of 5 (non-interleaved) barcodes aren’t used as widely as
the more popular Interleaved 2 of 5. 2 of 5 barcodes are
used on some airline tickets, in photofinishing labs,
and industrial settings. 2 of 5 barcodes encode numeric
data and therefore has a character set of 0-9 plus the
start and stop bars.
One of the oldest barcode symbologies, 2 of 5 symbols
do not include a check digit.
Visual Basic Code for 2 of 5 Barcodes
This is a Visual Basic function that adds the start
and stop bars before and after your input. It adds the
"<" as the start bar and ">" as the stop bar to your
data.

Code 93 barcodes
C93Tools prints Code 93 barcodes. Code 93 barcodes
are used whenever a very small 1D barcode is needed.
Code 93 is ideal when space is limited. For example,
it's often used on electronics components. Code 93 bar
codes are compact and have two check digits to provide
accurate scans within such a small space.
Code 93’s character set includes uppercase A-Z, 0-9,
the space character, and six other characters: - . / + $
% The four control codes are mapped to “a”, “b”, “c”,
and “d”. These are often referred to as “$”, “/”, “%”,
and “+”.
In Code 93, “<” forms the start bar and “>” makes the
stop bar. Every Code 93 bar code has two check digits,
referred to as the C and K check digits. A properly
constructed Code 93 bar code symbol is of the form:
<1234CK> with C and K as the two required check digits.
Use our free sample code to call our Code 93 font
from within another application. Our Visual Basic
routine creates the start and stop bars and adds the
needed check digits which encode your information into
our Code 93 fonts.
Please note that this product prints Code 93 symbols,
not the more common Code 39 barcode. The C39Tools font
package makes Code 39 barcodes.
Print Barcodes in Crystal Reports
All of Azalea's barcode font packages include a User
Function Library that integrate our barcode fonts into your
Crystal Reports project. The UFL adds the start and stop
bars, and any needed check digits, creating a barcode from
your data. It's a two part process:
-
pass your data to our UFL
-
format the returned value in one of our fonts
All Azalea products' setup program installs the UFL
automatically. Their UFL and a set of 9 Code 39 fonts are
bundled with Crystal Reports 2008. You can install it
manually by downloading the 2 DLLs and putting them in the
correct location depending upon your configuration.
Download the UFL you need:
32-bit UFL = (u25azalea.dll + u212azalea.dll)
Put the two DLLs here:
C:\Program Files (x86)\SAP
BusinessObjects\Crystal Reports
for .NET Framework: 4.0\Common\SAP
BusinessObjects Enterprise XI 4.0\win32_x86
64-bit UFL = (u25azalea.dll + u212azalea.dll)
Put the two DLLs here:
C:\Program Files (x86)\SAP
BusinessObjects\Crystal Reports
for .NET Framework: 4.0\Common\SAP
BusinessObjects Enterprise XI 4.0\win64_x64
