Mirametrix
provides three products together for eye tracking: S2 Eye
Tracker, Viewer eye tracking software and an API.
The products are offered together in one affordable eye
tracking package.
The S2 Eye Tracker is
a portable hardware device that sits just below the computer
screen. It calibrates almost instantly and holds calibration
extremely well, allowing it to work consistently across
subjects. It runs on most Windows computers, and can be used
at a variety of locations, both in and out of the lab.
The system supports casual head movements, and provides a
distraction-free test environment that ensures natural
behaviour, and therefore valid results. Accuracy is
achievable within the range of 0.5 to 1 degree, ensuring
reliable research results.
It's ease of use and setup means that the S2 Eye Tracker is
accessible to anyone with minimal training. As a result it's
ideal for educational purposes, undergraduate research,
graduate research and more. Learn more about the
S2 Eye Tracker.
The Eye Tracking
Viewer software is a simple-to-use program for recording
an eye tracking session. The eye tracking software works in
the background and creates a video of the screen, overlaid
with red dots for tracking the eye, showing exactly where
the user is looking at that moment in time. It can also save
the eye gaze data as an XML or CSV document for simple
processing by a custom application. Learn more about the
Eye Tracking Viewer
Software.
The Eye
Tracker API provides a simple way to interface with the
S2 Eye Tracker. The S2 Eye Tracker API requires no software
download whatsoever. You can access the API documentation
and begin integrating with any other application that
supports TCP/IP for data communication and XML data
structures.
Using this API, Mirametrix has published their Mirametrix
Toolbox for MATLAB. The toolbox lets you access eye gaze
data inside MATLAB. Learn more about the
Eye Tracking API.
Key S2 Eye Tracker Benefits

easily transport the lightweight and compact eye tracker
equipment.
Extensibility: Using
the API, you can integrate eye tracking with any
software or device that has the necessary accessibility.
Our customers have used the S2 Eye Tracker with a host
of software applications including MATLAB, etc. and etc.
Painless Calibration:
You don’t want to be fiddling with the eye tracker
system for every new subject. Steady, simple calibration
that holds consistently and works quickly is critical.
Accuracy: You can
expect accuracy in the 0.5-1 degree range, ideal for a
wide range of research and practical uses.
Flexible: The eye
tracker is flexible under a number of different
conditions: wearing eye glasses, head tilting, excessive
blinking, and head shaking. The eye tracker is also very
quick to reacquire a test subject’s eyes when they move
out of view.
Unobtrusive:
Position the Eye Tracker just below the monitor and
subjects forget it’s there very quickly. Users can move
and act naturally, distraction-free.
Lots of Data: You
can record and store huge data sets, which makes it
possible to record long eye tracker sessions, even on
video.
The S2 Eye Tracker equipment is ease to use and setup,
making it possible to benefit from eye tracking in any
number of studies, without any training required.
Applications
How to Use Eye Tracking? Eye
tracking can be used in a variety of different applications.
The S2 Eye Tracker from Mirametrix is specialised for a
number of key industries and purposes.
Academic Research - There’s an
increasing interest in eye tracking and how it can impact
academic and scientific research in a number of fields
including psychology, human-computer interaction, and more.
Market Research - As consumers interact
more and more with digital devices, and consume more content
through video, television and the web, companies need to
better understand this interaction and consumption. The
opportunities for optimisation are significant.
Software Usability - Software developers
can learn a great deal about how easy their software is to
use and how people use it through the implementation of
basic eye tracking.
Education - Eye trackers can be very
useful in classroom environments for teaching high school,
undergraduate and graduate students about subjects including
psychology, perception, human behavior and more.
Game design - Games are getting faster
and more complex, and users are getting more demanding. A
game's playability is critical to its success, and eye
tracking can help assess playability and overall game
quality.
S2 Eye Tracker

accessible to anyone with minimal training. As a result it’s
ideal for educational purposes, undergraduate research,
graduate research and more.
You’ll get an eye tracker system that is:
Accurate: Advanced computer algorithms
track both eyes, offering a point-of-gaze measurement
accurate within a 0.5 to 1 degree range and data at a rate
of 60 times per second.
Easy to Use: How to set up your S2 Eye
Tracker? Unwrap the package, plug the USB, install the
software and start your first study. It’s that easy!
Affordable: It is the most
cost-effective eye tracking solution in the industry. And
academic and volume discounts are available. Contact
MicroWay sales for more information.
Flexible: The eye tracker is flexible
under a number of different conditions: wearing eye glasses,
head tilting, excessive blinking, and head shaking. The eye
tracker is also very quick to reacquire a test subject’s
eyes when they move out of sight.
Portable: The S2 is less than 40 cm
long, and can fit in a laptop bag and can be easily carried
between machines and locations.
Unobtrusive: The S2 does not require any
head mounted equipment, nor does it require any large or
heavy support hardware. It is a lightweight solution that
can be used with existing equipment and leaves users at
ease. The eye tracker equipment sits unobtrusively below the
monitor, facing the user.
Fast and easy to setup, and fits into a laptop bag. The
S2 Eye Tracker is a small USB device that takes less than a
minute to setup. The eye tracker equipment sits
unobtrusively below the monitor, facing the user. It uses
advanced computer vision algorithms to track the eyes and
produce point of gaze data at a rate of 60 times per second.
The small and light hardware package makes the eye
tracker system easily portable between machines or
locations. The fact that it does not require a custom
monitor or embedded computer allows it to run entirely on
existing hardware, keeping costs down and allowing the
flexibility of monitor choice.
"I have worked in a vision lab at
Harvard, and now in Melbourne, and I can unreservedly
recommend the Mirametrix Eye Tracker as an inexpensive and
easy-to-use eye tracking solution." – Olivia Carter,
PhD, Psychological Sciences, University of Melbourne

monitor, track and record eye gaze data. As a subject uses a
computer equipped with the S2 Eye Tracker, Viewer can be
used to record a video of the on-screen activity, which
includes exactly where the user is looking. By using a
second monitor, this video can even be shown as it is being
recorded. Below is a video recorded by Eye Tracker Viewer
Software while a user read a news website.
Main features:
API available: Have control over
the data that is sent over IP.
Online Accessibility: Download it
anywhere you are.
Easy Integration: Use it with any
software that imports CSV docs or XML codes.

S2 Eye Tracker API
The S2 Eye Tracker supports an open standard eye-gaze
interface. The interface uses TCP/IP for data communication
and XML for data structures. Our vision is to see this API
adopted by many eye tracker developers, providing
application developers a standardised interface to eye gaze
hardware. For now this easy to use and free eye tracker API
provides a simple way to interface with the S2 Eye Tracker.
The S2 Eye Tracker API requires no software download
whatsoever. The free eye tracker API is available to
existing customers. You can access the API documentation
below and begin integrating with any other application that
supports TCP/IP for data communication and XML data
structures.
